First I would like to thank all the people who come to work sick and proceed to cough on, touch, and generally contaminate the kitchen, bathroom, and air around their desks. There was a nasty stomach bug circulating the office that I had the pleasure to catch and it sidelined me for a few days. Lesson here is to stay home if you are sick.
On to more pleasant news, last week I bought a foam roller. I have read how great they are and what a must have but trying is believing. I had no idea how tight and knotted my legs were until giving the roller a whirl. It is as if my muscles are looser and it feels as if it has improved my running. Not sure why I waited so long to purchase one but am so glad that I did.
Can anyone recommend an intermediate circuit training DVD? I have done the 30 Day Shred for a few months now and am getting bored. Looking for a new challenge.
I love to race! I have wanted to run a race for the past few years but was always to scared. Scared I would look foolish, wouldn’t finish, or thought I would never be fit enough. I am sorry I held myself back from something that turns out to be so much fun.
This race was fast, flat and lots of people PR on it. It takes place in Winter Park, Florida and goes through some of the older neighborhoods around the Cady Trail. The houses here are nice but not eye popping. It felt like a real community with lots of people standing in their driveways handing out water, bagels, and cheering us on. I love seeing that. It really shows how something as simple as a race can pull a community together. So often, such as in my neighborhood, people do not even wave at each other.
This race was for charity and there were people dressed as pineapples who when passed, a $1 was donated to The Track Shack Foundation. I never saw these any pineapples but they must have been up with the much speedier runners while I started just in front of the race walkers.

I am pleased with how I did. Six months into running, I am trying to build a solid base and want to enjoy myself. Check and check!
5K Race Report
I just signed up for my second race the House of Hope Run Around the Pine 5K. Here’s to hoping that my long slow runs will pay off with a slightly better time and less walking this time around.
|From the office Christmas party a few years back. I feel this happy to race again.
Total Miles: 39 Miles.
Strength Workouts: 30 Day Shred Level 2
Goals achieved: First 5K!
Longest Run: 4.78 Miles.
State of the thyroid: No real changes. I have another round of blood in a few weeks. It will be easier to judge when I can see my numbers. The only change I have noticed is some fatigue in the late afternoon. Exercise helps to boost my energy levels back up but I also think a Synthroid adjustment with more sleep might do the trick.

You can also search routes that others have posted in your local area. The have a new contest called “MapMyFitness 2011Resolution Challenge!“. You sign up for various challenges and there are various drawings for prizes. I signed up for the 30 miles in 30 days.
I am a sucker for leader boards and rankings which is why I love DailyMile. If you are not on here please join and friend me.
