Things my Garmin taught me and my favorite week night dinner

First run with the Garmin was enlightening. I learned the following:

1. I am much slower than I thought.

Besides the ease of tracking distance, the main reason I wanted a GPS watch is for pace. I am a fairly new runner and was certain that my ability to judge my pace, or to stay at a consistent pace, was lacking.

2. I really enjoy looking at my stats.

Viewing all the information about a run is intriguing to me. I am very analytical and like to plan, so having as much information as possible I find useful.

3. I want to take my running to the next level.

I have briefly talked about future running plans before but for those who missed it, I want to run the Women’s Running Magazine Women’s Half marathon in November. The perusal through possible training plans, having the Garmin will make that training much easier.

Now onto the food.

The Black Bean Tostadas with Corn Relish is a perfect work night/summer meal because the prep time is minimal, the vegetables especially in addition to the corn relish are refreshing. It really is a great go to meal that can be easily modified for different tastes.

It’s quick, tasty, cheap, and can be made with items you may probably already have in your kitchen.
