This week has been insane! Back to work from vacation on Tuesday. Tuesday night I had a meeting after work until 9:30 and today another meeting right after work. This one was at the really cool Black & Brew in Lakeland.
There are few things I love more than coffee and these days it is so difficult to find independent coffee places. Black & Brew did not disappoint.
For dinner I had the Veggie Medley Panini. (I may have eaten half before I could get myself to take the picture. Was really hungry)
Gorgonzola cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, red peppers, red onions, and basil pesto sauce on ciabatta. It was really good!
I also had a latte which was excellent. Definitely recommend Black & Brew if you are in Lakeland.
Hotter than Hades Virtual Half Marathon
I need some running inspiration lately. My goal race (first half) is not until the end of November and the only other race on my calendar is a 15K (four days before my 30th birthday) in September.
With the Hotter than Hades Virtual Half, time does not matter and you do not have to run all 13.1 at once. What you can win, besides the feeling awesome for going the distance, are some great prizes.
My first entry into this race is my run from Monday. Here is the proof in case you were worried I was cheating.
Only 8.68 miles to go.
Do you need some motivation? Is it so hot where you are that your friends and family think you are nuts for running outside?
This post is part of the Fitness Friday Blog Hop.

Every summer until this year I have whined about the cool summers here – not truly summer, more like mid-winter LA. But this year, I am thankful for the cool weather.
Great start on your virtual half!
As for motivation? I bought myself a home espresso machine for my 45th birthday as a reward for morning runs. My husband thought it was a horrible extravagance, but it has sooo been worth it!

Cool weather sounds so nice! Central Florida is barely tolerable this time of year.
Treating yourself, especially with fun kitchen gadgets, is important to do sometimes.

I’m visiting from Jill’s Blog Hop – nice to see you!
I’m such a coffee freak – love it. That place looks neat. Good luck with the rest of your mileage. I need to go check out that virtual race. I love them. I’m hosting one next month, come check it out.

Thanks for popping over from the hop!
I love virtual races and will be sure to check yours out.

Yes it’s hot here, but it’s always hot it seems. So everyone who knows me thinks I’m nuts for running at 5am – but it’s so much better than when the sun actually gets up!
Your sandwich looks delicious. I think I need to visit that shop!

It always seems hot here. It took me a few years of living in Florida to get used to that but I don’t think I’ll ever love it. Would rather live in a place that has more seasonal weather.
The sandwich was amazing and I will be sure to eat there again.

That panini looks YUMMY. I would have eaten half right away as well.
Have a great weekend!

Anything with gorgonzola on it goes quick around me.

I am also doing the hotter than hades run and have my first half coming up in October!
That sandwich looks really good and what a cute little concept for a restaurant!

Oh I love the idea of doing a virtual run where you don’t have to do all the running at once! Congrats on making it through the first week back after vacation! I know it’s tough.
Found you through the Fitness Friday hop!

Thanks! The first week back from vacation is killer and was really busy.

I have found the virtual races to be fun for motivation! And with the heat it seems like a lot of us need a little extra push to get out there. I’ve run the HTH twice and will do another tomorrow as part of my marathon training.
Yes. It’s hot. And yes my non-running friends think I’m crazy. Actually, they think running in general is crazy
Have a great weekend!

I think your post, about runners being different, is apt. There is something about it that those who do not do it find perplexing, especially in the heat of summer.

Great start to your 1/2 marathon! I’ve signed up for this too
