Healthy Snacks

If you are not convinced, please check out any of the links on the Central Florida Eats page for evidence. While I love to eat out, healthy eating is very important to me. My food philosophy is to eat as clean and whole as possible. This leads to lots of time spent chopping and prepping meals and snacks, so I am prepared for the busy week ahead.

I work a full-time 9-5 job and the best way I have found to avoiding the fast-food trap, is to eat breakfast everyday and be prepared with healthy snacks. Snacks should be tasty, quick to grab in the morning, have protein, minimal sugar, and tide you over until the next meal. Most of my workouts are after work, so my afternoon snack needs to take me through the end of work and a workout until a late dinner.

Snack Ideas:

Hummus and baby carrots (you can buy these prewashed so they are just grab and go)

Mozzarella String Cheese

Peanut butter and a banana (or fruit of your choice)

Yogurt and granola (oats, peanut butter, fruit, nuts, cereal the possibilities here are endless)

I was lucky to get to try Dannon® Oikos® Plain (which I prefer because I like to add my own flavor).


I added blueberries and a drizzle of local honey. The texture was very creamy (not runny at all like some yogurts get) which always leads me to eat it more slowly. Dannon® Oikos® is created through an authentic Greek straining process which gives it a rich and creamy-thick texture. The creaminess always leads me to feel fuller when eating Greek yogurt than with other varieties.


One of the reasons I like to eat yogurt regularly is that the active cultures help with digestive issues I have had in the past. Eating the good bacteria in yogurt is a great way to maintain a healthy digestive system. Dannon® Oikos® 0% varieties contain active yogurt cultures and range from 80 calories (Plain) to 130 calories (Fruit on the Bottom) per 5.3 oz. cup.
