Ten Miles And A Garmin Fail

1. I ran my first double digit run! 10.05 miles to be exact and it was wonderful. I have five weeks left until my first Half Marathon and I needed to break the double digit barrier to feel more prepared for this race.

2. I have no idea how to use my Garmin. For the previously mentioned double digit run, I chose a course, uploaded it to the watch, and expected it to somewhat direct me where to go to follow that course. That is not what happened. I ended up doing my own thing and ignored what my Garmin was doing. Lesson learned, read your manual, and do not assume you know what you are doing.

3. My days off allowed me to catch up on TV. I finally watched Revenge and I am hooked. The show is like a delectable piece of gossip. Lots of soapy fun.

  1. Great job! I’m getting my avg runs up around 7 (training for the tough mudder). I’m going to be beat by the time the race comes around! I hate that with GPS Running systems. Sometimes mine will be on the fritz and I’ll have to ignore the annoying watch beeps for a few miles.

    Second, you actually figured out how to put a route in your Garmin? Girl, you are way ahead of me! Color me impressed!! :)

      I’m not sure if it’s on Hulu but I was able to watch an episode on ABC.com. It really is an addictive show.

  3. Congrats on your 10 miler! I havent broke into double digits yet.. Was *supposed* to run a half this month but plans changes so I just started slacking on running and now regretting it! And I hate to admit this, but I totally skip reading the owners manual and just try to figure it out myself.. Then when it starts getting too hard I give in and read it.

  4. Way to go on the double digits!!! You’re doing great! I’ve never loaded a course on my Garmin so I can’t help with that one! I usually use mapmyrun or a site like that to plan it out and just use my Garmin to measure pace. Keep working hard!!
