About Me

Hi and welcome! My name is Dina and I am a 30 something Connecticut girl living in Central Florida.

In 2009 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. Graves is “an autoimmune disorder that leads to overactivity of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).” There is no cure. Seven months ago I had RAI, which is where you take a pill that kills your thyroid.

I have gone from having a super-fast metabolism, to one that needs to be stimulated by medication. I knew that if I did not exercise regularly and really watch what I eat, I would easily gain weight. So I started to run.

Running is something I wanted to do, and attempted a few times, because the idea of racing intrigued me. I was scared to enter races but got the push to just try by a helpful running co-worker. I am now training for my first half-marathon and loving every minute.

J, my husband and full-time law school student. He loves food more than anyone I have ever known.

I have two cats who I adore and love to post pictures of.

Tail, who is super cute and probably plotting to take over the world.

Alia who is much nicer and quieter than Tail.

Please join me as I adjust to living with a slow metabolism, doctors visits, and become a runner.

  1. Hi Dina! First off, congrats on your recent 15k. Second off, it’s so nice to “meet” another Orlando runner/health blogger! I’m loving all of your race recaps – they are so inspiring as I train for my first race. Running will definitely stimulate your metabolism like no other! (I say as I scarf a bowl of couscous after a six-miler, hah!) I can’t wait to click through your Central Florida eats recommendations, and to follow the rest of your posts!
