I Have A Secret…The Lying Game

I really do have a secret that is a little bit embarrassing.

I love ABC Family.

Yes, they have cheesy shows like The Secret Life Of The American Teenager. Not really a fan. I also do not want to talk about ABC Family cancelling Jane By Design which I really loved.

One of my favorite shows, which is a complete guilty pleasure, is The Lying Game. The winter premier was on last night (when did TV networks start doing winter premiers?) I had to get reacquainted with this guy.

Oh Ethan Whitehorse, please be my boyfriend. My husband won’t mind.

Do you know what the number one Google Image Search that gets to my blog? Ethan Whitehorse which leads to this picture.

Ethan Whitehorse The Lying Game

So I know I am not the only one who appreciates Blair Redford in all of his Ethan Whitehorse glory.

Are you cheesy like me and enjoy ABC Family? Agree that Blair Redford is super hot?

The Best New TV Show For Fall

This post will contain a few things that I hold dear including fall TV, free stuff, and cats.

The number one show I am looking forward to this fall is Revolution which is premiering September 17 on NBC. This show is getting lots of Hunger Games comparisons (dystopian storyline and a heroine with a bow) but who cares because The Hunger Games is really good. Please watch the trailer if you have not seen it and I know you will be as excited for this show as I am.

Awesome right?

I was lucky to receive all this free stuff in the mail this week. As a long time BzzAgent , I have gotten lots of cool items over the years.

CoverGirl Plus Olay BzzAgent Kit

I received a CoverGirl + Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 foundation.

CoverGirl plus Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation Base

I was also sent a pressed powder.

Of course, if I am doing anything anywhere in the house a cat pops up. So curious and so in the way.

Tail The Cat In The Way

A few weeks ago I tweeted a picture of baked garlic squash.

Followed by a Twitter exchange with GE.

@ That looks fantastic, Dina! Do you enjoy making healthy meals?

Then they sent me a basketball.

Spalding Basketball

I know nothing about basketballs but J assures me it is a nice one.

GE Healthy Share

GE recently launched HealthyShare which allows people to set health goals and share them with friends on Facebook. They have different apps on the site where you can track sleep, diet, and your moods. As someone who takes my health seriously, it is nice to see a place where people can get inspiration and motivation to create healthy habits.

Do you have a fall TV show that you are looking forward to?

Aliens And Other Weekend Activities

There was no working out this weekend what-so-ever and very little movement.  I’m still sick but over the worst of it. Fingers crossed, I should be back to running on Monday or Tuesday.

So instead of lying around in my pajamas feeling sorry for myself, J begged me to see a movie and grab some food with him on Saturday.

He claims to have waited eight years to see Prometheus, so we headed into Orlando to see it on the IMAX at Pointe Orlando.

Prometheus Movie

{Source}

I have not seen any of the Alien movies so I went into Prometheus with no real expectations. The 3-D was pretty cool and I enjoyed the story. It was somewhat predictable but it set up the next movie in a really interesting way. Definitely worth a watch if you like Sci-Fi movies.

The most exciting part of the movie was seeing a preview for The Hobbit. I am such a huge fan of this book and Peter Jackson’s movies that I wanted to clap after the preview. That movie is going to be amazing.

For dinner we went to the Brick House Tavern + Tap on International Drive. It is one of those places that we have driven by a few times and both commented that we should check it out but always forget to stop there. I am so glad that we did.

Brick House Tavern and Bar Orlando Place

The Brick House Tavern + Tap has a really cool look. Very masculine and industrial. I loved the sofa tables and was glad we were able to sit at one. Very comfortable and both sides had good views of multiple TV’s.

I had a Kona Koko Brown Nut Brown Ale and J some kind of cider (which he is really into lately.) I have yet to be disappointed by any Kona beer and this one was no different (even if I only sipped it because my whole face hurts from this stupid head cold.)

Brick House Tavern and Bar Orlando Beer

The waitress pointed out the bottle cap teaches you a Hawaiian word.

Akamai which means smart or clever.

J had the Fried Stuffed Olives to start. They are stuffed with Italian pork sausage and brie before being deep fried. Not for me (because I don’t eat sausage) but J enjoyed them.

A Philly Cheesesteak for J with tots. Not sure the last time I had any tater tots but they were as good as I remembered.

Brick House Tavern and Bar Orlando Philly Cheese Steak

I had a BLT with fries. It was served on Texas toast with a thick slice of tomato. I would order it again.

If you are in the International Drive area and looking for good beer, food, and a trendy atmosphere then the Brick House Tavern + Tap will fit the bill. J and I will definitely be back.

Now I will bring this post full circle and end where I began with aliens.

Falling Skies on TNT

J and I have been counting down the days for Falling Skies to come back. This is some much watch alien TV.

What are your must watch summer shows?

Sick, Cranky, and My Husband May Want To Kill Me

Just kidding, J is actually kind of awesome when I’m sick. (As long as the Eagles are not playing of course.)

J hoping the Eagles will win

I have been sick with a head cold all week. I started to get a twinge of sickness on Tuesday and thought about delaying my workout.

Feeling a little sick but really wanted to run today. When in doubt, do you like to play it safe and skip your workout? #runchat
@ Depends what kind of sick. I have to admit that I usually sit it out when I am not feeling well.
@AHatfield08

@ really depends how I feel, sometimes running makes me feel better, otherwise my body may be telling be to rest #runchat

The lovely people who responded to my tweet about running when sick were right and I decided to take it easy on Tuesday. I thought the extra rest would cure me but I was wrong. Tuesday I was just feeling a little sick but now it is a full-blown eyes watering sneezing constantly head cold. So I have not been to the gym or out for a run since Sunday and I am getting antsy to move.

Two good things have come out of my recent convalescence. I had time to finish the Maze Runner.

The Maze Runner By James Dashner

{Source}

It was excellent and I recommend running (see what I did there?) out right now and buying this book. It’s a pretty quick read but really intriguing. I probably will pick-up book two this weekend because I need to know what happens next.

I had time to watch the pilot for the Dallas reboot on TNT.

Dallas on TNT

{Source}

I liked it very much and will definitely continue watching.

Jesse Metcalf With No Shirt Dallas

{Source}

Jesse Metcalf is pretty easy on the eyes plus he plays a character who is looking for alternative energy sources. A man after my own heart.

Do you get cranky when you’re sick?

Should Jesse Metcalf be allowed to put a shirt back on?

What TV To Watch

I don’t know if you were aware, but I love TV almost as much as I love cats. This is my list of must watch shows for the upcoming week.

Sunday

Game Of Thrones TV Show

{Source}

Game Of Thrones might be the best show on TV. The episodes never waste a moment and with more characters than any other show, that is a good thing. Extra points for the most informative and intricate ever-changing opening.

Girls On HBO Show

{Source}

Girls is a new show premiering on April 15th on HBO. Here is the synopsis from TV.com.

Lena Dunham, creator of 2010′s critically acclaimed independent film, Tiny Furniture, partners with Judd Apatow (Freaks & Geeks, Knocked Up) for a new series on HBO. The show, much like Dunham’s film, takes a comically wry and offbeat look at the ups and downs of a group of twenty-something girlfriends living in New York City. The cast includes Dunham as Hannah, an intern at a publishing house in SoHo; Marnie, a motivated assistant at a political PR firm and Jessa; a down-to-earth girl who wants to be an artist and teacher.

I will have to reserve my judgment until after I see the pilot but the reviews are positive. It is definitely worth giving this show a slot on your DVR.

The Killing AMC

{Source}

The Killing is a controversial show. It recently started its second season and many (former) fans refused to watch because we still do not know who killed Rosie Larsen. I am in the camp that the show is still solid and interesting enough to hang through at least one more season. Plus I really want to know who the killer is.

Monday

Smash TV Show

{Source}

Smash is a really good show. I love the behind look at a putting together a Broadway musical. There is so much drama that is coupled with excellent singing and dancing.

Tuesday

Don't Trust The B In Apt. 23 ABC

{Source}

Don’t Trust The B In Apt 23 premiered last week and it is quirky. Why should you watch?

  • One main character is a terrible person almost in a cartoonish way
  • James Van Der Beek plays himself

Revenge TV Show ABC

{Source}

My TV guilty pleasure, I love Revenge. There is not a weak episode so far and I can only imagine what Amanda has in store for the rest of season one.

Thursday

Touch TV Show Fox

{Source}

Touch is a show with a lot of heart that tells great stories. Even though some of the episodes are a tinge formulaic, watching Kiefer Sutherland get from point A to point B is fascinating. I love how clearly we can see the interconnectedness of each story every week. This show has a lot of potential.

Awake TV SHow

{Source}

One of the most unusual concepts in recent memory. Awake is well written and has a great feel. I hope the ratings improve because this show deserves a chance.

Friday

Fringe TV Show Fox

{Source}

Fringe does not deserve the ratings it receives. The show has never been better. I will be very upset if it does not get another season.

Netflix Streaming

Teen Wolf TV MTV

{Source}

Slightly cheesy but pretty good for a summer show on MTV. I am halfway through the first season and should be caught up before season two starts.

What’s on your must watch list?

Looking Forward

I have felt kind of depressed and deflated lately. Being in the job market in a state with high unemployment is not ideal. Through this trying time, it helps to have something to look forward to.

Ascics GT-2170

{Source}

My shoes are in and I am picking them up tomorrow. The current pair is being held together by string, so my feet, legs, and knees will be happy with this new development.

Game Of Thrones Show Season Two

{Source}

This Sunday, season two of Game Of Thrones premieres. Based on the books in the George R. R. Martin’s A Song Of Fire And Ice series, this show has it all. I just finished the first book in the series, in which season one was based, and am dying to know how the story is continued. (If you have not read or watched this series, please do so. It is amazing!)

Howard Stern on America's Got Talent

{Source}

The King Of All Media is coming to Florida! America’s Got Talent is holding their Florida auditions next week in St. Pete and I was able to get tickets. I have never been to a TV taping which should be exciting (what if I end up in an audience shot!) J and I love Howard Stern almost as much as we love cats, so the excitement is really overwhelming.

Half Marathon Training Week Twelve

If you would like to follow my other weeks of training, they can be found on my Workouts page. I break my half marathon training down by week to make it easier to follow.

Half Marathon Training Week 12

Key Workouts:

Easy Runs: 3/3

Speedwork: 1/1

Long Run: 0/1

Strength Training: 1/2

Cross Training: 1/1

Total Miles: 21.53

This week was not my best week. My easy runs were fine, no issues, but my speedwork on Thursday was a disaster. I ended up calling that run a few miles before it was supposed to be over. The pace felt really fast, the weather was bothering me, and I could not get myself to continue mentally.

Supposed to be a tempo run

I rarely have runs like this and I am not sure of the exact cause but maybe it has to do with overall stress? As positive as I am trying to be, being out of work is rough. I feel slightly depressed and the lack of interviews is makes me feel rejected.

I missed my long run on Saturday because I attended a political event that ended up lasting for four hours. I did not have the time to run and make our dinner reservation. I might have been able to run but would not have been able to shower and do my hair/make-up. If J plans a romantic night, I like to at be somewhat presentable. (Plus he sees me in my pajamas and messy hair most of the time because I am home a lot more now. Have to keep a little romance alive.) I attempted to do a make-up long run on Sunday but the weather was nasty. So cross training and some streamed Teen Wolf was in order.

Teen Wolf TV Show

{Source}

As an aside, is anyone else watching this show? The first season aired last summer and it seemed to get some buzz especially for a show on MTV that is not Jersey Shore. I have only watched a few episodes but I like it so far.

Back to the regularly scheduled running talk…

My training for the Half on March 4th has been strong, so I am not going to stress a few missed runs.

How do you handle missing workouts?

Any new shows to recommend?

TV To Watch

One thing I may love as much as cats and running is TV. Please let me be your guide to all the best shows on the dial.

Alcatraz TV Fox New Show

{Source}

I can sell you this one with a few words. J.J. Abrams, Sam Neill, and Jorge Garcia. There is also a Lost connection which is always good for shows like this. J and I are slowing being sucked into to the mystery and really want to know where the prisoners went and who took them.

Shameless US TV Showtime

{Source}

Shameless is in its second season and so far the episodes are just as good as season one. William H. Macy is really strong as Frank who is a terrible father/person but has his moments. He is a man you love to hate and continue to be shocked at where he is willing to go (such as allowing his son Liam, who is a baby, to be held ransom for money he owes on a bet.) The show is hilarious, shocking, and heartwarming all at the same time. Definitely worth a slot on your DVR.

Touch TV Show Fox Kiefer Sutherland

{Source}

Touch has only aired one preview episode before its actual premiere in March but it was very strong. Kiefer Sutherland stars as a single father of a son who is delayed and does not speak. After the intervention of Child Protective Services, he realizes that his son is seeing patterns and trying to communicate through numbers. The story is very intriguing and could make for lots of great possibilities plus you know TV is always better with Jack Bauer.

Smash TV Show NBC Debra Messing Anjelical Huston Katharine McPhee

{Source}

Smash has not aired yet but I am excited to see it. The reviews coming out are very positive and it has such a strong cast (Hello Anjelica Huston.) I am such a sucker for singing/dancing on TV, I know I am going to like this. Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.

Any shows you would add to a must watch list?

American Horror Story Is The Most Screwed Up Show On TV And I Like It

A few thoughts on this lovely Thursday which I took off from work.

1. American Horror Story. If you ever find yourself giving birth in an old house, aided by a ghost doctor and nurses, while your dead daughter watches, run. When the Anti-Christ is finished tearing its way out of you, your crazy neighbor takes the baby to clean it up and is confronted by your husbands dead mistress, you know you aren’t in Kansas anymore. So wrong, yet so good.

2. I finally downloaded a few free Photoshop actions. These actions can be found here courtesy of Pioneer Woman. I have no clue what I am doing but it is fun.

3. I am a huge Howard Stern fan. I listen everyday and we have Howard TV at home. Today he announced that he will be a judge on America’s Got Talent. This news is still sinking in but I do hope that this will let a larger audience see that Howard is more than a crass, shock jock. I do not currently watch America’s Got Talent but will tune in to see Howard.

TV You Should Be Watching

Once_Upon_A_Time_TV

{Source}

Once Upon A Time is a show that integrates fairy tales with the present day. It starts with Emma Swan, who was orphaned a as a baby and is now working as a bail bondsman. She is fierce, tough, and beautiful. Emma is surprised by the ten year old son she gave up for adoption who tells her a fantastical tale of Storybrooke, Maine where all the residents are characters from fairy tales but they do not know it. Emma is there only hope.

I loved every second of the pilot. The story set-up was clear, the ensemble cast was strong,and the costumes and make-up were stunning. I have high hopes for Once Upon A Time and hope that future weeks are as strong.

Homeland_TV_Show

{Source}

Homeland is full of current events (War on Terror) and spying coupled with a returned POW and an intelligence officer who has some sort of mental disorder. It is fast-paced and exciting. Definitely a must see!

There is one contestant on the X Factor who confuses me. I do not think that Chris Rene

Am I missing something here? The judges have gushed about Chris from day one and even Simon was singing his praises last night.
